The Castle Climb - Slaughter Pen

Castle Climb - Blue

Located in Slaughter Pen Trails, Castle Climb Trail is a steep and winding uphill route that provides a quieter, more challenging “back way” to reach the Castle Hub in Bentonville.

The trail begins near a scenic bridge at the base of the Castle, where Tatamagouche Trail meets the Medusa Trailhead. From the start, Castle Climb makes its intentions clear with a sustained uphill that quickly gains elevation through a series of tight turns and switchbacks.

Unlike more direct or heavily trafficked access routes, this climb offers a more secluded and rewarding approach. The steady gradient and winding layout require pacing and control, making it a solid test of climbing fitness for intermediate and advanced riders.

As you near the top, the trail opens up to a unique vantage point overlooking some of the Castle area’s most iconic features, including the ramp used on Loam Wolf Trail and Dragon Scales. It’s a great spot to catch your breath before rolling into the Castle Hub and choosing your next descent.

Castle Climb is a functional connector, but it’s also a rewarding ride in its own right—especially for those who prefer to earn their way to the top.
